This looks to have been a great event. Graham Orphan has kindly supplied the following photos for the forum, and he wrote: "We hosted one of our 'summer' Flying Days at the Omaka AHC today. The day did not dawn warm and sunny but rather, cold and rainy, with temperatures at just barely half of yesterday's balmy heights. Nevertheless, Omaka's local aircraft owners had a variety of machines out on the crowd-line and many of these flew during the day. It was especially pleasing to see Noel Kruse's exquisite Ryan STM being exercised above the field. It is certainly one of the prettiest machines living at Omaka! Bill Reid had the stunningly restored Avro Anson Mk.I out and about and at one stage, was flying with three Nanchangs formating on it. It was great to see the latest Nanchang to fly in New Zealand, Wayne Pamments ZK-CHG, which had only been test flown by JEM Aviation's Jay McIntyre on Friday. Although it did not fly on the day, Jay showed how easily the CFFC Spitfire XIVe could be started, that massive Rolls Royce Griffon merely awakening on demand! Late in the day, the Pitts S2S ZK-PIG, was taken aloft and put through its paces by Noel, showing why he is known for his aerobatic prowess. General flying took place all day with a variety of vintage and ex-military aircraft flown on the day. As said, it was not the best weather for our flying day, but all who attended had reason to go away happy at the end of it!"
