Had a look at 1655 - nothing to see but it was about 4.5 hours after NZ5218 saw it.

yes it had gone when I got there , but my daughter at the local high school said it was very large and the same colour as our Hercs. I must train her better , but after being dragged along to around 30 airfield in England last year , she is wise to my schemes.

What, are you going to issue her with a telescope so she can read the serial? Or are you complaining that it might have been a C-5 from her description?

A camera is a better idea than a telescope Errol.

I can't imagine a several hundred dollar camera being regularly taken to a West Auckland secondary school is a good idea... I say this as a former student of Massey High.

Yea just a shame I couldn't find my bloody camera. As it flew very close to my home. I was running all over the place trying to find it as she was coming in from way out over the Gulf.
I did find the camera in the end, the wife had moved it..... sigh. I did hear a jet under full power about half an hour to an hour later, so she wasn't their for very long at all. Just passin thru I guess.

There is also a ski equiped C130 and during the week NH90 & a couple of A109's operating from there

Asked my mate about air movement at the Deep freeze base, he had the same answer as Raymond. he said that the NH-90s rattled his office windows, more so than the Iroquois did. isc

Errol , shes at the new Hobbie Point High where everything is electronic , I pads and wifi , teachers notes and even assemblies are on line. So fitting her out with a mini airband radio tuned to WP and a long lens camera wouldn't classify her immediately as a geek. And Massey wasn't that bad , both my older kids went there and survived . I believe that cannibalism is no longer practised and only I 6 phones are stolen.
Getting details on interesting WP movements isn't always easy , even with mates inside . Apparently they get requests on Orion movements from fishing folk who may not be playing fair , so not a lot of info at times , which messes with my trying to get night shots of Orions on approach.

pjw4118, by the sound of it your daughter hardly needs to "go" to school to go to school, perhaps that's the future, maybe learning on line, go to school once or twice a week for things that can't be done on line. You can quite see the security reasons for lack of info from WP, or any military base, it's not just the locals, but the international marine movements, fishing and otherwise. sorry getting OT. isc
