Hmm, that would make it (probably) the example Ken Jacobs had stored at Ardmore (the wings were outside near where "Aero Tech" is today) when I was working up there in the early 1990s.

Thanks for that information. Seems funny seeing an English designed/built aircraft being restored by Americans, as they don't normally seem that way inclined.

There are surprisingly quite a few British designed aircraft flying in the USA. Spitfires, Hurricanes, Gnats, Fireflies, etc. Sadly a Hunter was lost a few weeks ago with the pilot too.

An interesting side issue on this - if you go to the airliners.net link above and click on the 'More Vampire' hyperlink, five Vampire photographs are listed on this site. One of these puports to be NZ5755 taken in Australia in November 2004. This is rather surprising, as this aircraft is said to be in storage with T Packer at Christchurch since 1973. I can find no mention of it going overseas!
Does anyone know of such a sale of this Vampire, or is it some other airframe painted up in NZ5755 colours?

I remember seeing Teds Vampire tucked down the back of his garage dismantled, that was in the mid eighties. He was telling me then that he had her for sale. I remember she had the "Yellow Hammers" logo on the nacelle pod, and was in excellent condition.
He was showing me the Mossie bits he had been restoring and had done a beautiful job.
Ted is a really nice bloke from memory.
Hope this helps some

Just resurecting this old thread - Anthony, can you please describe the Yellow Hammers logo you mention?
I know they were an RNZAF Vampire display team, but I'm having trouble with the team as some sources say it belonged to No. 75 Squadron, and others say it was a No. 14 Squadron team. Did it serve with both squadrons?
Did you happen to take any photos of the aircraft and logo mentioned?
