Here are some more of my Old Airshow photo’s. I was unable to find an old thread for these.
A reminder they are taken with old technology and my scanner is a cheapo so I apologies again for the poor quality.
This Airshow was organised by the Middle Districts Aero Club see some Background from their Website

Growth and The War Years
The inauguration of Union Airways (the forerunner of National Airways Corporation and Air New Zealand) in 1936 based at Milson established Palmerston North at that time as one of the country's most advanced flying centres. Union Airways was the first commercial airline in New Zealand, and the company's inaugural flight took place from Milson on the 15th January 1936 to Taieri and then flying a daily 800km service between Milson Airport, Omaka, Wigram and Taieri with four engined de Havilland Express airliners.
On January 18-19th 1986, another successful airshow was organised although this was more to celebrate the 50 years since commercialisation of the airport rather than the aero club
As the theme of the Show Commercial Aviation so I will start with those.
The Dominie was an early stalwart
A View of Milson Suburb where I lived back then as well as the Biplane bracing which was a common site for early travellers
A lovely all too short flight coming to land
A FieldAir Dakota taking the Parachutists aloft
This may be the last public appearance of Monospar ZK-AFF owned and flown by Piet Van Ashe before it was destroyed in a hangar fire. It was previously used for aerial mapping/photography. (Proctor in the background)
These Newspaper clippings appeared in the Manawatu Evening Standard at the time of the Ohakea Wings and Wheels 1984 but are useful background here.
Now on to Replica Warbirds
Fokker DR1 of the Late Stuart Tantrum
SE 5A 70% scale built by Tom Grant (Flown by John Lanham?)
Now New Zealands only WW2 Fighter (Flying) AFC P-51 - I have previously posted some images rnzaf.proboards.com/thread/22677/30-years-mustang-zk-taf?page=1#scrollTo=224312 so I will not repeat those.
Who is on the wing of the Hercules in the background?
There's no show without the RNZAF
Here's a Hercules in an original colourscheme
TA4-K
A4-K Can anyone name the Likely lads cruising around while the Guy in the flouro jacket does all the work
