Lovely photos Gavin. My favourite is that moody shot of the Vulcan off in the distance, really brilliant lighting and that iconic shape is unmistakable. For a nod from one generation to the next I think the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight fighters in formation with the Red Arrows says it for me. And of course all those Spitfires (and Seafires!) and Hurricanes. And lastly a nod to one of the great heroes of the Battle, the Hurricane, that formation of three of them with another famous type the Blenheim, not always remembered when talking about the Battle. If only there was a Defiant flying! Shame the 110 and 88 aren't air to airs! lol

This would have to go down as one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. The Vulcan is seen here during its initial join and was quite spectacular even though it was still quite a way out!

What sort of aeroplane were you in when you did the Vulcan session, Gavin?

The photo plane was this Short Skyvan. Good view from the edge of the ramp, waiting for the Vulcan. Leg stretch following 45 minutes with legs crossed, gets quite painful and feeling in both feet eventually disappears but that's a small price to pay :-)

I didn't realise the Skyvan had been updated to 5 props per engine

There aren't enough "Like" buttons for your photos, Gavin. Great work, and thanks for sharing as much as you do with us. It certainly brightens my day to see new pics from your travels.

Great pics Gavin, was the mini shed G-PIGY? or G-BEOL? And was Tony still flying it? Regards the Vulcan, I haven't spoken to him in ages but was Martin Whithers still floating around?

I've read recently that Martin Withers is still one of 558's pilots.

Just as well your shoe laces were well tied! Yip all part of the pre-flight, the list of things to do before a ramp shoot is a long one :-)

It was G-GEOL, Tony was flying it, great guy. Bill Ramsey and Phil O' Dell flew the Vulcan really well, will be nice to post the "good" photos when I can. Martin has been flying it for most of the eight seasons, great guy to talk to.

Great cover. I never really thought that much of the Vulcan but your photos are the best I have ever seen of it Gavin and make itlook rather appealing.
