Another Beagle Airedale is shortly to be seen in New Zealand skies, taking the national Airedale population to two! ZK-COA (ex VH-UEP) was imported in December 2015 and is currently being assembled at West Melton. ZK-COA will join NZ's only other resident Airedale ZK-CCW, both of which will be based at Rangitata Island. Does anyone have any pictures to share of CCW?

Great to see AA-1 DKX is getting some attention also. Did you happen to hear how the guys were getting on with her ?

Has CCW been fixed then? I thought she had had a close encounter with a hangar?

The young fella flew it with the 16 aircraft ordeal, - are you suggesting there were casualties, Baz.

Ok, that must have been a while ago, - Ross will know the dates but it has been at Rangitata almost a year now. We were flying about Rangitata on the day of it's delivery.... indeed we raced it back northwards when it dropped the guys back at Darfield. I would think it was about mid-Feb.

Any idea on the current status of the Beagle ZK-COA?
I have yet to see it out and about.

In October 1963 my neighbor, Peter Roy, had just bought ZK-CCW brand new from the agent for £4,000. In 1965 when Jenny and I were married we had a flying honeymoon. We flew right around New Zealand via North Cape in this new Beagle Airdale ZK-CCW. This replaced his Auster J5G which he had earlier sold to me. As the Beagle aircraft was the only type in New Zealand, not surprisingly, there was only one instructor licensed to fly it, which was Paul Beauchamp-Legg who lived at Levin. So my instructor, phoned Paul and over the phone he was able to ‘log a couple of hours’. He then was fully qualified to give me my rating. Over a period of time I done a lot of flying in this aircraft.

The J/5G would have been ZK-BDK (which is still with us).
