Warbirds Dakota in Nelson

The Dakota stopped in at Nelson on Saturday; I took some pics after work, although the lack of a tripod hampered the quality of the results. The first two are monochrome because the reflection of the green grass illuminated from the lighting turned the underside of the Dak green.















The last pic, despite the high ISO, slow shutter speed, low f-stop etc is very grainy; really should have brought my tripod...

One can never get enough of the DC-3, Grant, I'm still getting use to driving my camera, I can achieve results on one setting but as soon as I start playing around I create one hell off mess !

Woodbourne actually, confirmed it tonight, blew a rear bank cylinder on climb out from Woodbourne, heading north (blew top off it).

Hopefully just a cylinder head and piston change, one of the good things about radial engines and some in line types (eg Gipsy) is they have individual heads, whereas the Merlin and Allison have 1 piece heads on each side(for 6 pots).

They are now in Wanaka with Betsy so all repaired OK.
