I'll be there - Saturday unless the weather's better for Sunday. Was hoping to make this month's one but it's the same weekend I'm getting married, so....

If I'm not working, I'll be there both days.
And if I am working....well, being a local I can go to both days of any of the flying weekends when they fit in with my Friday-Saturday-Sunday-Monday-Tuesday rostered long-weekends off, which are every third weekend.

Given the LVG news, I've booked for both days.

That's a good idea Errol, I may have to do the same.

I'll be there on Saturday, and so will my Dad! The last TVAL-related displays he saw were at Omaka in 2005 so he's excited to see all the cool stuff at Hood.

While there had been no flying by the time I left at 1pm because of the wind, and Dad decided against coming because of the said wind, I had a great morning at TVAL. Great to catch up with KTJ, delticman and another mate, as well as the three newbies: The DH-4 in US markings (one of, if not THE, my favourite WW1 types). The LVG C.VI. And the world's sole extant representative BE.12. When I saw it I was confused and thought there was a new, weirdly-modded BE2!...even though I'd been waiting to see it... (Their hangar isn't terribly great for photography.) Here's a selection of others in the hangar: Crossing fingers for a better forecast for the December event.

Good stuff, Zac. There doesn't appear to be much room in there once everything is crammed in.

Is that "everything"?

There's a lot more in the “flight shed” (their maintenance and assembly hangar), which isn't open to the public.
However, TVAL started signing up members of their new Vintage Aviator Supporters' Club yesterday (they first hinted at such a thing way back when Sarah was running things) and I am member number #3, so hopefully they will offer “behind the scenes” peeks to those members as they were hinting at when the concept of a supporters' club was first floated a couple of years or so ago.
I looked out the window at the weather this morning (gale force winds in Wairarapa) and decided not to head to Hood as there was no possibility of any flying and I caught up with everybody yesterday. Roll on the next flying weekend in three weeks' time. Hopefully the equinox winds will have abated somewhat by then.

Definitely not "everything"! There were about 20 aircraft in that hangar, and there's at least one other hangar on the field as alluded to by KTJ. There doesn't appear to be much room in there once everything is crammed in. Quite right. Enough room to walk around the building, but not enough to walk around each aircraft - aircraft line each side wall, and there are more in the middle in an "island". Getting everything in looks like a massive game of Tetris!

Where does one find info on how to join the Supporters Club? Errol

There is absolutely nothing on TVAL's website or Facebook page about the Vintage Aviator Supporters' Club, but they had a notice about it at the entrance to the hangar, so the three of us who joined (up to me) paid the money in lieu of the usual entrance cost and entered our details in a notebook provided; and were told we'd get a club card in the mail.
I think TVAL probably haven't got around to putting anything on their website yet and until they do, it appears the only way to join is to front up in person, or perhaps make an email enquiry for more details. The annual cost is $50, but that gets you in to any of their flying and open weekends.
