Hi everyone. (I'm new here)
I am in Rome on holiday and I wanted to know a bit more about Italy in World War 2. So I had a search on YouTube and found this
If the link does not work just search for "Liberation of Rome - World War 2 Documentary movie" on YouTube.
At about 8:20 in the film it shows an Allied soldier appearing out of his tent to complain about the horrid weather they are experiencing on the way to Cassino. I couldn't help but notice a striking resemblance to my grandfather. Of course the chance would be very slim, but to narrow it down, my question is ... is the uinform on the soldier a New Zealand uniform?
Thank you so much for your help!!

It looks like an American uniform to me I'm afraid. If you'd like to learn more about the kiwis in Italy in WWII may I suggest you take a look at my site at www.newzealandersatwar.com and take a listen to the audio series there, "Courage And Valour: New Zealanders in the Italian Campaign in WWII".

Thanks David. I saw a photo of two NZers up on a hill in Cassino. One was holding a machine gun and he had a jacket that looked the same. We're all the jackets quite similar I wonder?

(Or at least the photo caption said they were New Zealanders) ... which might not be accurate. I will keep searching!
