Sir George Grey Special Collections, Auckland Libraries, AWNS-19180307-36-4 Please refresh my memory.............what aircraft are these. The are Caudron biplanes. All but one of Canterbury (NZ) Aviation's fleet were Caudron's, either imported or constructed locally (except for engines which were imported). The odd man out was a Bleriot that was used only for ground handling training. 187 pupils qualified for their Royal Aero Club Aviator's Certificate at Sockburn on the type during 1917-1919. Errol

In the early days of the Air Force Museum of New Zealand (back when it was the RNZAF Museum) they had definite plans to build a replica of the Caudron as used at Sockburn during WWI. I think it's a pity that this never happened as it would have filled an important gap in the early days of Air Force training.
