Flicking through my records, I note that there are a number of interesting aircraft that are currently registered but who never seem to appear anywhere near centres of population - or where I happen to wander, anyway.
Now I accept that someone who owns an aircraft is perfectly entitled to do anything they like with it, but it seems to me that a large part of the pleasure of owning such an item is to show it off at aviation gatherings. That's what I would do if I owned any of the following:
Stampe SV 4A ZK-BBV - registered to an owner in Helensville
Simmonds Spartan ZK-ARH - registered to an owner in Te Anau
Chipmunk ZK-DHC - registered to an owner in Waikaka
CA.25 Winjeel ZK-JJG - registered to an owner in Ranfurly
Cessna 120 ZK-BFK - registered to an owner in Whangaparaoa
Tiger Moth ZK-AOR - registered to an owner in Pukekohe
Tiger Moth ZK-BTR - registered to an owner in Palmerston North
Tiger Moth ZK-BJR - registered to an owner in Auckland
Rearwin ZK-AGQ - registerd to an owner in Tauranga
So, any leads on where when and why?

Don't quote me but;
BBV does get out and about some times but not often. ARH only occassionaly gets out around its home patch. DHC is at Mandeville and isn't airworthy currently, although its close. AOR could well belong to Wayne Edwards which is on long term rebuild.

Isn't AGQ with young Mr Galpin in Tauranga? He restored it after his father (John) passed away. Superb job too!

ZK-BTR is at the owners home at Kelvin Grove Palmerston North and in many pieces. The owner is in his 80s so work on rebuilding it is very slow. Last saw BJR in 2003 painted as NZ1425

Give Tim Galpin a call. He flies it quite regularly. He'll probably even take you with him! I can send him a message on FB if you like.

Spartan was owned by Rod Hall Jones, who flew it rarely fron Te Anau.. Can't remember when but sold to UK a few years back. What a pity. Never saw it myself, but a great restoration, aparently.

Following up on the above, three years later I have caught up with the first and the last - BBV and AGQ. (BBV has since departed these shores).
The rest of these still elude me.
The Spartan ZK-ARH is still locally registered.
