Less than four weeks to go until the first TVAL flying weekend for the new season.
I've got a Friday-Saturday-Sunday-Monday-Tuesday rostered long weekend off too!
Anticipation is rapidly building....time to start digging out the cameras for what will be an amazing airshow season.
I've got gold passes for both Wings Over Wairarapa and Classic Fighters and TVAL's flying weekends are the icing on the cake.

Good stuff Bruce, well-planned! I'm hoping to go down for at least the first one so I'll see you there.

I just realised the December flying weekend also coincides with a rostered long-weekend off for me.
But it gets even better....I arranged for all my work leave for this year a couple of years ago, then lost the paperwork. The mini-roster for the next few weeks got posted today, and where I thought I had the next couple of weeks off, I've actually got the next three weeks off from tomorrow evening until the Tuesday following the December flying-weekend (the entire three-week period between two rostered long-weekends off). Talk about good unintentional timing, eh?
Incidentally, that quote in the first post of this thread (which is on TVAL's facebook page) seems suspiciously like something I posted to this group earlier this year. I guess TVAL must be watching what we post about them here at Wings Over New Zealand aviation forum.

Good news for November (for others), I've decided not to go, due for the forecast winds and the need to shake off a low-level illness in these stressful times. So they will presumably get the LVG up!

So what are you telling us here, Erol? That you are the LVG's jinx?
No worries....if it flies, we'll post photographic proof. If not, well there's always the next flying weekend in three weeks time.

Hear hear. I think my Dad's just keen to see what's there, he didn't seem overly concerned when I mentioned winds. Will call tonight and see if he's still keen, if so we'll see you tomorrow Bruce and others!

If you want to get some breakfast when you get to Masterton, I'll be at the Ten O'Clock Cookie Cafe & Bakery from about 8:45am (give or take ten minutes or so either way). It's easy to find....just drive straight ahead along Queen Street when you get to the roundabout at the northern end of the Masterton town area and it's directly across the road from Paper Plus, about four blocks south of that roundabout.
Which reminds me....gotta go and charge up the camera batteries.

Yeah the airfares are a sunk cost (and cheaper that way over the season than buying when you know the weather), the rental car and airport parking aren't :-) I've also got several hours work to do this weekend (leave recorded in Dec/Jan will reflect this, my boss values flexibility).

Dad's wavering about going tomorrow but I'll be there regardless, if only to see the LVG and DH.4 in person at long last.
Each weather site's saying something different...fingers crossed for stillness.

A nice fine day, but a fair bit of wind.
Still....I'm off to Hood regardless, 'cause I've heard there are some new toys.
Breakfast at a café in town first, though.

BTW....fingers crossed that the LVG flies on 17th or 18th December, or perhaps even on both dates.

Right, now there is more certainty in my December, flights and car booked, with Sunday morning return.

I look foward to catching up with you again, Peter.
Perhaps this time we'll finally get to chew the fat over a couple of cold beers.

Gene took the DH4 up! Not for long, he got bored of trying to get it to turn!
