Dillingham Air Force base (or airstrip these days) is used for skydiving and glider operations these days. The ridge in the back ground provides great lift, on the day we were there a local chap told me the gliders could stay up all day if they wished. This colourful little Bird Dog was working hard hauling gliders up one after the other. Bit of history on Dillingham field here, interesting to read the strip could handle heavies like B24s and B29s even the mighty A4 used to landed at Dillingham. Couple of links re the field's history. www.airfields-freeman.com/HI/Airfields_HI_Oahu_N.htm#dillingham en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dillingham_Airfield
