Hi all
Just read on the New Zealand Flightsim Forums that James Slade's ex-RNZAF Corsair, NZ5648/ZK-COR, is up for sale!
Anyone else keen to stop this from heading back overseas? I have $18.10 in my wallet...
She's the (as far as I know) last complete former Kiwi Corsair in existence, not to mention the sole airworthy example, and to see her go back to Europe or the States would be a major loss to the warbird scene and, I believe, New Zealand as a whole.
IT SUCKS!
However this dude could've got it wrong and she's going nowhere, but you never know. Rumours like this can turn out to be sadly truthful...

Zac, can you please post a link to the forum where this claim has been made? I've never heard of the New Zealand Flightsim Forum, but I have found it via Google and searching it i cannot find the info you talk about. Perhaps it is one of the shares up for sale rather than the whole aircraft? If at all? Their website states they will be getting a B-25 in a few months to koin the Corsair and P-40. No mention (yet) of the Corsair being for sale. www.oldstickandrudder.com/adventures.html

Hi everyone Umm that was me on the NZ Flight Sim Forum. I am a long time lurker of this forum and have been meaning to join for sometime. I guess I better now. The short story is that the Corsair is in Tauranga (until tomorrow) and when I went down to have a look at it the guys from the Classic Flyers Museum told me that it was for sale for $2.5m - I hope it is not true but I have no reason not to believe them. Here is the link to a thread I started - plus some photos z11.invisionfree.com/nzff/index.php?showtopic=3136Cheers Paul

Very sad indeed if it moves off shore. It looks great at any display. www.airliners.net/open.file/1200941/L/Welcome aboard Naki and by your link I should make another trip to Tauranga again. Some interesting aircraft there and a few more been squeezed out of Ardmore? Colin

Welcome to the forum Paul (Naki). Please spread the word about this place on the NZFF forum as there seems to be a load of interesting NZ aviation buffs there. they're all welcome to come here too.
I don't think I'll be panicking about this rumour of a possible sale till I see if confirmed. Even if it does get sold and happens to leave NZ, we cannot be angry at James Slade. After all, he and his colleauges are the ones who brought it back from the other side of the world, and it has enjoyed three excellent seasons here in NZ. Seeing Keith Skilling fly the Corsair at Wanaka last year, and moreso at omaka a few weeks ago, have to rate among my most favourite warbird memories. If it were not for OSRC we wouldn't have it here at all. The samegoes for the P-40E. It's wonderful to have them in NZ for the time being. Let's hope they stay a little longer.
Great photo Colin, and Paul your shots at Tauranga are great too.

Joe, do you mean everything in general in the Warbird world (as per the age old addage)? Or do you mean specifically that everything in that collection is up for sale?
