With the impending closure of the Ohakea museum in a week or so, a lot has been said about what will happen to the the Strikemaster and Skyhawk replica. These I am sure will be in safe hands wherever they go to. But I am rather worried about section of Hudson fuselage that is stored ingloriously outside the museum.
What will its fate be? Will it be stored at Wigram? Will a local museum take it? Will it be, god forbid, scrapped?
I hope it has a safe and healthy future undercover. it may not be a complete airframe sadly but it is part of a very important piece of RNZAF history and undoubtedly has a genuine combat history of its own, making it more important than any Skyhawk mishmash or Strikemaster.

I'll take it! I'm sure we can find some space for it in the eventual WW2 part of the AHC! Actually, the Blunty and Scooter *would* be rather nice, too....local history, ya know! ;-) Keep us posted if poss. I love that collection and I'm glad I got in there before it closes.

Last time I saw that fuselage section it was totally stuffed and not much good for anything. It was completely rotten and would probably fall apart if moved. I think it had been used as a farm "shed" before it ended up at the Ohakea Museum.

That's a huge shame. I'd love to know what happened to the other Hudson fuselage that was at Wigram, which was much more compete and in better condition.
