Robert McGowan of Otautau has asked me to share the link to his new forum at b17bombers.freeforums.net/ all about the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress and its crews. Robert's Pop was an American B-17 pilot from Southern California, who moved to New Zealand after the war.

This is one aircraft that really capture my imagination, the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress, I had to do a complete windows install on my FS machine (flight simulator), I did have a perfectly working system, lost a lot but raced to get it up and running as quickly as possible, the people incoming to check out exactly what I get up to was a School teacher, she brought three family members around - specific to show scenery, (educational tool idea) , only aircraft then installed other than default was the AH B-17F , when I said that was all I had installed currently .. the three guys went into WOW FACTOR .. Hanna the School teacher was .... I'll guess I hear from that later. @ b17pilotson If you have flight simulator, or not, would be a pleasure to paint your old mans B-17, if you have photos and the Markings and registration/tail code and unit markings, bring the aircraft back to life you, this was a personal promo I did , I do have both the AH B-17 and the A2A aircraft, B-17s yeah .. Gorgeous Aircraft!

Hi Ian, WOW nice paintings, stunning! My wife and I actually own the Otautau Gallery. Just opened September 1st. Have a look here: Facebook.com/otautaugallery/ How much do you charge to paint my Pop's B17? Would you want to put a couple of B17 paintings for sale in our gallery? Let me know, B17Pilotson, Robert

Let me know, Hi Robert, what you see above are screen shots, not paintings, but I do both painting Flight Sim aircraft and I also draw and paint, strangely the Fort has only had a few pen drawings, nothing yet worth selling, it is another work that really need to sit back and really do something different, this a quick BIC ball point pen drawing whiles in quiet moment. I'll check your Gallery out .. be a pleasure to follow thru with a historical painting.

I have been researching the aircraft 230795, It is a B-17F-120-BO , 100 built in this batch, 'BO' being Boeing built, other two companies making the Fort was Douglas and Lockheed/Vega which go with the DL or VE variant.
I was wondering if you had any information on the unit or group within the 'Eight', bomb group it was assigned to?

This was my Pop's bomber Ian. Go to B17bombers.freeforums.net and hit recent posts. Scroll down and read the documents I have published, it's all there. I would be interested if you have any further information on this particular aircraft. Regards

I'll check this link out later, get myself signed in, I went thru my library here and that was all the data I had or to find out about 230795, as I mention the my interest with B-17, It is an icon of WWII, I used the old line from the TV series from the 1970's, instead of a 'Quin Martin Production' was AH, with that It would be interesting to probe about and find more information.
