Actually the Holbrook sub is HMAS Otway - HMAS Onslow (Which I've also been on) is at Darling Harbour...

Its about the same size. Funny..... every time I drive down to Temora there is a farm west of Wallenbeen with the prominent name "Onslow" and every time I see it, it reminds me of him and the Hyacinth !

The Sub has left Auckland. Saw it heading out to sea around 5.30pm.

Things are starting to look good out in the Hauraki Gulf. There are now four Navy ships anchored in the Gulf one looks to be American but it's off Rakino Island so cannot be sure and one more making its way in, plus all sorts of comings and goings to the city. Makes for a nice change.

It'd be cool if they flew over Ardmore on Sunday

I've suggested to Jessica that if foreign aircrew would like a look inside the Dak post-flypast, then perhaps they could organise a quick photo-trip for us passengers? ;-)

Is anyone staking out Whenuapai for P-3s and P-1? Exercise kicks off Sunday. This just posted to the RNZAF Facebook page: "For those of you in the Auckland region, RNZAF Base Auckland is hosting a number of international aircraft over the next few weeks. The visitors are here as part of the International Fleet Review celebrating the Royal New Zealand Navy’s 75th Anniversary, and will be joining RNZAF aircraft in a flypast of the fleet on Saturday 19 November 2016. While staying here the aircraft will be participating in maritime exercises off the coast of New Zealand in conjunction with some of the visiting naval vessels. This will involve increased flying activity including night flying, but should be limited to take-offs and landings. Apologies for any disturbance For full details of the International Fleet Review please visit www.navy75.co.nz "

A JASDF B747 has visited at least once. JMSDF ships with helicopters have been here a few times, don't know if they have flown over the city. Probably first Japanese Navy fixed-wing since then?
