USAF C-130 Hercules at Rongotai

I have come across a photo of one of the two USAF Lockheed C-130 Hercules that was present at the opening of the Wellington Airport at Rongotai on October 1959. On its tail it has the number 50042. I cannot find a record of that number and wondered would it actually be the C-130A known as 55-0042 as seen here?

Yes, it will be.
USAF tail numbers generally skip the first digit of the year numbers of the serials.
