In the December 1980 issue of RNZAF News (which was recently given to me by Anthony Galbraith, thanks mate!) there is a report that a combined expedition involving the RNZAF and the Nelson Underwater Club was planned for soon after publication in the Nelson bay area. The plan was "to claim from the sea-bed a Hudson aircraft which crashed there during the war" according to the text.
First of all, which Hudson?
NZ2029 crashed into the Tasman Bay off Nelson, killing all but one crew member aboard. Was this the aircraft?
Also, did this go ahead? Was anything from the wreckage recovered at all? The article makes it sound like they intended to pull up the whole aircraft.
Does anyone know anything about this?

Pretty sure that is the Hudson spoken of Dave.
The dive club have the prop at their club rooms if I recall, I dont think anything further has happened with the salvage though.
Since the time of the accident it has been caught in many nets and scallop dredges with various bits torn of (the aircraft that is) and the story of a salvage is ressurected whenever a boat brings a new piece up. There cant be much left intact any longer.
