Can anyone help with the name of the loader driver killed in the above accident ?
Air Accident Report 84-035 has the name of the pilot, Mr K W King, who was seriously injured, but not the name of his loader driver/passenger.

Good question A15 - I read that report for the first time just the other day and wondered the same thing.
William John Thomas May is also missing from Mike Feeney's Roll of Honour. Is that perhaps the only accident where the pilot has survived but the loader driver has not?

Is that perhaps the only accident where the pilot has survived but the loader driver has not? Bill May is in the Topdressers 1990 along with other loader drivers and crew. Richmond Harding has a tin can hopper from ZK-BIT which has all the names of ag pilots & others listed. Sadly there are just too many names on it. |

The Roll of Honour includes Barry Harraway, loader driver, killed in the crash of Fletcher ZK-BHL on 8 Nov. 1978 without an accompanying pilot named. There is the possibility that he held a CPL and was ferrying the plane, as happened in two other cases that I know of. I do not have a copy of that accident report so cannot confirm. NZ Register shows a serious accident to BHL in 11/78. a15 |

NZ Register shows a serious accident to BHL in 11/78. a15 The accident report confirms Harraway, a loader driver for at least three years, was killed while flying solo on a topdressing sortie - his 36th of the day, these being the only ones he had flown solo and of which the company (Farmers Aerial Topdressing of Invercargill) were unaware he was undertaking. He had held a CPL since June 78 and a PPL since Nov 74. Errol |
