Two dead after light plane crash in the Catlins videoLast updated 13:04, April 2 2017 Two people are dead after a light plane crashed at Kaka Point, south of Dunedin. A St John spokesman said two ambulances and two helicopters were first called to the scene about 10.10am. The crash site was in a farm paddock on Wright Road, off the Owaka Highway, 20km south of Balclutha. Emergency services at the scene where a microlight crashed in a farm paddock on Wright Road, off the Owaka Highway in the Kaka Point area, 20km south of Balclutha. "The ambulances got there, assessed the situation and the helicopters were stood down because of the fatalities." A Civil Aviation Authority spokesman said the plane was a Rans S6 and had two people on board. Police said they were notifying next of kin of the two who died. Sad. Looks to be S-6ES Coyote II ZK-TJE which was previously ZK-WAL/2, ZK-JNA/5 and ZK-OAC/2. The Otago AC only sold it late last year. ZK-OAC/2 at Taieri 26Oct2015
