A US Coast Guard C130 has just headed into Whenuapai.
I bet they will be typical tourists arriving in the weekend and complaining that nothing is open.....
The pics I got were rubbish due to the low cloud and rain, will see if I can tidy one up to post.

Looks like the USCG 14th District includes Hawaii, Samoa and W. Pacific. They have 4 HC-130s based in Hawaii.

On Wednesday, from 2.30 pm there will be a dramatic “rescue” off Mechanics Bay simulating a sinking boat firing flares, a US Coastguard C-130 Hercules dropping a life raft, and an Auckland Rescue Helicopter winching a person from the water. |

There was US Coast Guard Hercules parked at Whenuapai this morning. I only saw it as I drove past so didn't get a good look, and at first I thought it may have been for operation Deep Freeze, but I think those Hercs are from the NY air national guard these days. Anyway, it was gone by the time I went past again after 1600.

Coast Guard hercules flew into Whenuapai this afternoon. I got a late photo as the plane was so quiet and not on fight radar.
