Alan Deere shot 22 aircraft down, not 9. Looks like they are doing amazing work. I read the Provest there is next in line to be restored after the spitfire. Good to see the harvard has a good new home

Fantastic to see such a piece at last! Too cool - go TV3.
Re his kills, perhaps it was nine during the BoB? Mind you, we all know that it can be hard to get facts straight.....especially when there are no references available....*rolls eyes*

Good to see a young lady working on it as well. Would be making a few males technicians a bit jealous...

welcome to the forum Errol.
I noticed the 'exact replica' comment too and laughed at first but then wondered if they meant it was to be an exact replica of Al Deere's own aircraft, which it will be when finsihed.

Just had a look on his web page and saw the March 2008 update is now there. Looks very good! There is also a history of the rebuild.
Also see the old stick and rudder company site has been updated. No mention of the Hinds anymore.

I have herad the Deere Spitfire wil be flying by Christmas - great news - and will be at Wings over Wairarapa 2009. So there could be 2 Spifires, 2 Mustangs & 2 Kittyhawks there along with the Corsair.

Do you mean Sir Tim's ex-Spitfire XIV? If so, do you reckon they can work a miracle and have it done by January?
