A light plane has crash landed on a south Auckland road and the pilot has escaped with moderate injuries.
2 11 June 2017 The pilot of a light plane that crashed landed on a south Auckland road has moderate injuries.
Emergency services were alerted shortly after 2pm on Sunday, a police spokeswoman said.
The aircraft ended up on the road near the intersection of Runciman Rd and Rutherford Rd in Pukekohe.
One lane of the road is blocked.
Police were assisting with traffic management and Fire Service is clearing fuel.
Images published of the crash scene show the plane flipped over on its roof.
Only the pilot was on board.

I heard on the radio news that the plane landed on it's roof, - I spent a few hours trying to work through that one.. Perhaps I took the reporting too literally.

Shame..... They are a neat little ship very fast for their time. Similar / copy (Nesmith Cougar) currently for sale on TM. Hope the pilot recovers quickly.

Clues...undercarriage bent back...fence demolished.. Wittman tailwind undercarriages are always swept back like that... but normally point downward. (yes, one is bent a bit more than normal...)
