Hi I'm posting this on behalf of a friend...I'll post photos shortly
Does anyone represent the interests of MOTAT's aviation division or any other preservation group involved with a Short Flying boat. A cache of parts recovered from a West Auckland building site has a number of items with SHORT BROTHERS and RNZAF identifications on them. Many items in their original boxing but time and exposed storage has shown deterioration of most of the packaging. The parts have been rescues from the inevitable tip/recycling and the current curator hopes a better outcome for the items as current dry storage is temporary Contact was made with MOTAT by the said owner with a unenthusiastic response but it is unclear if they were speaking to the right people.
If anyone can provide a direct contact details with anyone who would have an interest please PM.

Its possible that there are Solent as well as Sunderland parts here. The original collector had additional memorabilia in his home from both aircraft types.

Good on you for trying to find a home for these bits and pieces. If MOTAT aren't able to help, drop me a PM. We have the cockpit section of NZ4112 and it is possible we may be able to re-home this stuff.
Cheers A

Would be good to see the photos, something is up with the site at the moment on that front.
Anyway, I would be happy to try and help get them into covered storage in Auckland (sorry parents) and progressively get them down to Ferrymead for the project in Christchurch if no luck with Motat.
