Hello To You All.
I would like to film and take photos of our ( New Zealand's ) Aircraft history for my YouTube channel. I have just been to see the Bristol Freighter in Awhitu and that was amazing but sad at the same time.
If anyone could help me that would be great as i think Aviation is a big part of our New Zealand History
Thank you for you time

Hi Again, I have noticed that there has been many people look at the post i made about filming but nobody has commented... please let me know what you think about what i am trying to do as it is so hard to get anyone to let me film or take pictures in New Zealand for anything to do with history, all i want to do is document it tastefully for people to see and get excited about history again. I am a Kiwi born and raised and it hurts to see history take a back seat. Thank you

I think people may be a bit unsure what exactly you are meaning by "Filming New Zealands Aircraft History". Thats a very generalised statement, and filming "history" is hard because it has already happened! What do you want to achieve? What assistance do you need - How exactly do you want people to help? Do you want people to give you tips about what to film? supply footage? Talk about something?
I'm involved in Video production myself, and any project like this needs a clear and specific framework to work around, especially if you need to communicate it to others working on the project with you.

I would be interested to know if you met Richard Hudson, owner of the Bristol at Awhitu?

Thank you for your reply Bruce. I'm sorry if what i said was not clear enough, i guess i didn't want to post a big essay about what i wanted as i was testing the waters to see if anyone would let me take photos of their aircraft or maybe record some of it to. I'm by no means a professional in the industry but i am very passionate about history and photography. so i wanted to know where i can get in touch with owners of any historic aircraft, in any condition to document them. I hope i have been more clear on this. Thanks again

I would be interested to know if you met Richard Hudson, owner of the Bristol at Awhitu? Hi madmax, I never meet him but before i filmed anything i spoke to the tenants of the house he owns at the back of the property and they said he is fine with people looking at it etc but to be respectful and not damage anything. It was an amazing sight to see it but a little sad to see it just sitting there with nature taking it over. They also said that lots of people stop and take pictures of it so he is used to it but hardly anyone asks permission first. Thanks

Hi Savinghistory, Thanks for that information. I pleased to learn Richard is still with us. During the 1980s I lived at Awhitu and got to know him well and was instrumental in arranging the B170 deal between Ron Dwen and Richard. I had planned to by a B170 fuselage myself and convert it into a dwelling on my property there but things did not proceed as I planned.
