Visiting US military involved in three-car crash, near OhakeaKIRSTY LAWRENCE Last updated 18:02, August 7 2017 One person has been seriously injured in the three-car crash involving members of the United States military.A three-car crash near Ohakea involved members of the United States military. A rental vehicle carrying the military personnel was involved in the crash at the intersection of State Highway 1 and the main gate of Ohakea Air Force Base on Pukenui Rd, a Defence Force spokeswoman said. Emergency services were called to the crash about 4pm, a police spokeswoman said. A St John spokeswoman said seven people were injured in the crash.Two people were taken to Palmerston North Hospital - one person had serious injuries and the other had moderate injuries, she said. Five other crash victims had minor injuries and were treated at the scene, she said. There had been a backlog of traffic along SH1, which lined the road up to the Rangitikei Bridge. However, police said traffic was now flowing.
