There are five Avengers in New Zealand baileyt. Two currently at Tauranga (one restored to taxiing condition, the other under restoration); one in the Air Force Museum at Wigram; one on display at MOTAT; and Brendon Deere's flyable example based at Ohakea.

Actually, I wrote that story so it's a yes from me. I will probably be wearing my Air Chathams shirt so say hello if you spot me there. As it happens, the DC-3 will be in Wanganui that weekend on a prior engagement.

I'm afraid circumstances prevented me from attending yet again. This airshow so often seems to clash with other things.
Did the Avenger make it up from Ohakea in the end?

I assume that there are other events in the area on Anniversary Day that they have decided not to compete with.

Thanks atea. Looks like it was really good. No sign of Plonky but the other Avenger is a great stand in though.

I found the show fairly low-key, but was worth the trip down (from Ardmore, flying ZK-JSP). Thanks to the Museum people for allowing me to park the aircraft in their precinct. There were six aircraft present that I have not been able to photograph previously: Auster Autocrat ZK-ASL, from the East Coast Pacific Aerospace CT/4E Airtrainer ZK-JDZ, from Hamilton Murphy ST2500 Super Rebel ZK-MSR (the second one), local Tauranga Stoddard-Hamilton Glastar ZK-PGP, from Auckland Mitsubishi MU-2B-60 Marquise ZK-PSR, from Taupo and lastly the modest Cessna 152 ZK-TAE (ex ZK-NPD), also local can anyone ID this Spit replica that was also parked out earlier in the day? (If you say 'Supermarine Seagull' you go to the bottom of the class).

I think that Spitfire replica has been under slow construction there at Tauranga for many years. There were two under construction and one flying example, all a bit different, back in 2006.
