Actually, slight correction to that....I think TVAL are having a flying weekend next weekend (Easter).
They can do that because they aren't attending Warbirds Over Wanaka this year.
Ray Dearness would know for certain if they're flying Easter weekend, but I think he is in England at the moment.
I'll check back through my email correspondance with Ray, because I think we were discussing it in emails a few weeks ago, so if I've still got those emails, the answer will probably be in one of them.
However, their flying weekends aren't open to the public this season, although you can go to the Kittyhawk Cafe at the NZ Sport & Vintage Aviation Society and watch the flying from their outside seating area, or further along the fenceline at Hood.
EDIT: I located the emails in question and their flying weekends are the end of March and the end of April. Technically, the end of March is next weekend, but whether it was the last full weekend in March, or the actuall end of March is open to interpretation. I presume it is actually next weekend, ie....Easter. I seem to vaguely recall one of the pilots saying it was Easter, but I'm not 100% sure. However, the last full weekend in April is definitely a flying weekend; that would be 28th and 29th April.

The March flying weekend was to be this weekend but was cancelled. The next one is the end of April. There will be nothing happening at Masterton over Easter because most of the people involved will be at Wanaka, even if the TVAL aeroplanes are not.

There will be some aviation at Masterton next weekend - the Wairarapa Balloon Festival. Similar to the Waikato one that Peter has been posting photos of. www.nzballoons.co.nz/

The Sopwith (TVAL) Pup is ZK-AFS #008, displayed as N6185, and the Albatros DVa (TVAL) is ZK-ALB #0147. Further information on units and pilots. www.facebook.com/thevintageaviator/Serves me right for not looking (although FB has been playing with making it even harder for non-members to use). Links to Albatros and Pup FB photos. I also didn't realise until today that the CAA provides a list of aircraft models registered, which you can then see the regos of ZK-ALB deregistered (Exported) as of 29/6/2018 ZK-AFS still with TVAL
