Any reason known for this?

The Vintage Aviator is a fairly secretive organisation.
They tend to hold their cards very close to their chest.
A couple of us at this group got given a guided tour through their factory almost a year ago, but we had to sign a multi-page confidentiality agreement first, promising to not divulge any of the projects they have under way.
Who knows what their current issues are, but I guess they will sort it out in time, then we'll all get to see some exciting projects in the factory take to the air.

This has been public knowledge for months and has been posted here previously. They have had a change of management, and so the new boss has been making changes. It is envisioned the public flying days will return, just not this season.

Mentioned on their FB page that they are not doing any flying displays anywhere this season - so nothing at Tauranga or Wanaka either.

Apparently they had a flying weekend (that was not officially open to the public) last weekend. I presume that was when the following photograph was taken? That is absolutely stunning.

Quite a lot of TVAL flying action at Hood Aerodrome today, although they were mostly flying too high to get any decent aerial shots. I was putting a train away in the yard at Masterton about lunchtime when the BE.12 flew over, so I headed out to Hood and watched the flying for a while (there was about 15 aeroplanes out on the flight line), but I bailed about 2:45pm because it was too bloody hot out there. Today is yet another scorcher in Wairarapa, although believe it or not, there was thick fog this morning when I was driving a train to Wellington. In places it was so thick that I could only see about 40 metres ahead of me. The flying weekends are still happening the last weekend of each month, it's just that they're not officially open to the public. Plenty of people out there watching the action though.

Actually, a wee bit of good news regarding TVAL.
I was chatting to the bloke who has been running the guided tours of TVAL's hangar since Sara Randle moved on and he tells me they may start opening up to public hangar tours as well as public access to the flying weekends before the end of this season. He said that even if they don't manage to do that this season, the plan is to open up to the public again next season.

So we are guessing that the Pup is the one intended for NZ Warbirds, not yet registered?

So we are guessing that the Pup is the one intended for NZ Warbirds, not yet registered? The Sopwith (TVAL) Pup is ZK-AFS #008, displayed as N6185, and the Albatros DVa (TVAL) is ZK-ALB #0147. Further information on units and pilots. www.facebook.com/thevintageaviator/

A simple solution Errol, join Facebook. I'm not on Facebook but TVAL is a public site as are many others. I know it take time to dip a toe win the water but when it comes up to join, click no thanks. Once in a while Facebook will change the system, so you can't look at the postings but once the owner clicks something they become public again. Can be frustrating but it's like the cheese. I'm sorry if my posting got you on the a muddy path, but google your problem and you will find the right Facebook page.

They have been experimenting with how the 'Join now/later' box works, and on occasion I've been left with about 10% of the screen's height to look at a public page's timeline. I respond by not visiting any FB page for a few days, so they realise it's a bad idea. But you're right, not the best place for this rabbit hole.

Thanks for the photos Bruce, it's so nice to see the machines - particularly the DH.4 - out and about.

It's all go at Hood Aerodrome today, what with the final day of the National Aerobatic Championships and TVAL's flying weekend.
I've got to go to work shortly, so had to bail from the aerodrome about twenty minutes ago.
However, since I turned up there just after 10:00am this morning, the black Fe2 has been flying (it was difficult to start, as usual), as well as the SE5a's, the Sopwith Triplane, the DH4, an Albatros and others.
The flying hasn't been continuous, however, as TVAL has had to remain on the ground during each block of flying in the Aerobatic competition, plus there has been plenty of skydiving chucked into the mix as well and S&VAS taking people up for joyrides.
At this stage, the forecast winds don't look too conducive to flying tomorrow and some of TVAL's people also think it doesn't look hopeful, so today might be it this weekend.
TVAL will he having flying weekends the last weekend of next month and also the last weekend in April, but they aren't open to the public, so you have to watch from behind the fence by the S&VAS cafe.
Anyway, I'll see if I can find the time to look through my photographs from today later this evening after I finish work and see what I can post to this thread.

I heard they were holding a flying weekend the last weekend of April, but I'm not sure about this weekend.
I'm in Wellington for the weekend, so I don't know what is happening over the hill.
