Those Canberras appear to be turning over a "drowned" volcano, so must have been a fairly well known (and spectacular) feature near Kong Kong, then and now. Does anybody know what its name was? David D

Here are the photos from Tengahman, who was one of the pilots in this formation. This one taken over Tolo Harbour in the New Territories, Hong Kong Tengahman says, "I have recorded as approaching Tai Mo Shan which was one of the highest peaks in Hong Kong inland from Kai Tak towards what was then the border separating Communist China and Hong Kong. The haziness in the photos was correct on the day and poor vis was common round that time of the year. "I checked logbooks and old albums and confirmed the date as 13 OCT 66, flying in NZ6102. Album contained two snaps, one of which shows where the artist obtained his picture and the other coming from the same detail. I have no idea nor memory, sorry, of who flew with us in the photo ship or the source of the photos."

Ah, I see, the "volcano" in my mind's eye based on the illustration now seems to be simply a section of a fairly rugged coastline, not necessarily of a volcanic nature! David D
