While we are on the subject of that Kittyhawk, can someone tell me why the Corsair was not at Warbirds over Wanaka this year?

While we are on the subject of that Kittyhawk, can someone tell me why the Corsair was not at Warbirds over Wanaka this year? Currently inactive due to owner Gene DeMarco and unknown legal issues with TVAL. He is currently in the US. It was in the news a while ago.

For future clarity (as the info in the links may change with time) RMH changed to Mr Wulff, while COR is still with The Old Stick & Rudder Co. ZK-BFR (the 'original' B.E.2F) was changed from The Old Stick & Rudder Co. back to TVAL effective 7/7/17.

I'm actually more intrigued by the "Change of Colour Scheme" entry (Because RMH doesnt display a rego it has a "notified distinctive Colour scheme"...). I really hope this means a return to an RNZAF colour scheme!

I saw that the other night Bruce C, but I think Change of Colour Scheme can mean very minor things too.

So I guess the obvious question is are they likely to stay in New Zealand?

Interestingly Oliver Wulff had a BE2 restored by TVAL. Now based in the UK. ww1aviationheritagetrust.co.uk/?p=455Quote from there "He also has interests in WW2 aircraft – a Fiesler Storch Fil56 C3 1049 currently under restoration and shares in a Curtiss P40"

F it in a bucket if they are sold overseas. Surely they are both an artifact so they should remain in NZ,

At the function for Warbirds Over Wanaka Club members following the Saturday airshow, Keith Skilling told us that there are New Zealanders who are prepared to purchase the Corsair in order to keep it in NZ, but it all depends on the legal proceedings those aircraft are tied up in. However, both aircraft do come under the Protected Objects Act administered by the Ministry for Culture and Heritage due to their RNZAF wartime history.

So how does that work, if the purchaser of the P-40 is a Dubai-based German, with an aircraft collection in UK/Europe?

Sorry - didn't realise it was a link - so presumably the Chief Exec has the discretion to allow/forbid the sale overseas, as both aircraft have been sold overseas before......

NZ3009 - Considering its recent colourful past with a view to it becoming airworthy once more, it's hard to judge how any attempt at export would be seen by "two or more experts on the export of a protected New Zealand object". Controversially swapped then rebuilt before living overseas before returning to its homeland. I hope it doesn't come down to such judicial action...for either of the historical airframes.

I guess the P-40 is a case study...its unlikely the Act will keep every aircraft that has a link to the RNZAF here....

Unless, perhaps, if it is the sole remaining example and has had had no other owner since the RNZAF?
