I discovered this article today in an old (2004) edition of Flypast Magazine. Kiwi pilot, and that is LOW! Apologies for the scan quality and also for modifying this a few times, my spelling has been atrocious today!

I've seen a few Lightning displays, always awesome! Close examination shows the airbrakes are popped, [just at the bottom and forward of the fin].The Lightning had more thrust than weight, which led to some very spectacular vertical take-offs. A favourite finale to any display was a fast and low, followed by a vertical climb in reheat. Always, always impressive! When I win Lotto, probably tomorrow night, I'm off to South Africa!

Wow. I wonder who the pilot was. 1980's?

I decided to look into the photo, and enquired of Ed Durham about it, as he runs a good site on the EE Lightning. He kindly passed my email on and I just got this interesting reply:
Dear Dave The New Zealand pilot that you wish to identify was Flying Officer Martin Touzell. He was known on the squadron as 'Kiwi' which was his combat callsign. He was in the RAF as an officer in his own right i.e he was not on exchange tour. In fact there was never a New Zealand exchange slot on a Lightning Squadron. It should also be noted that if any of the execs had known at the time that he had flown that low on his overshoot he would have done the 'carpet crawl' before the squadron commander as a starter for 10. Yours sincerely Mike 'Red Dog' Streten

The first photo of the hovering Sukhoi looks very fake with no motion blur in the background or heat exhaust. The second photo at the second URL looks like the real deal. Nice one. We can see the backseater is having a good time. :-) Phil.
