Seems almost like heaven! Lake Hood is the largest and busiest seaplane harbor in the world, it is just a short distance from the international airport in Anchorage. There are something like 200 aircraft movements from here a day! You can drive or walk around the whole thing & Activity is fascinating to watch. It appears that half of the worlds Beaver and Cessna 180/185 population is based here! Accidents do happen... We just missed this incident on the lake, apparently the pilot was selecting flaps on takeoff and was focused more on what was happening in the cockpit than outside. The Lovely Cessna 170 clipped the bank and spun round, winding up looking the worst for wear (lots of wrinkles in the wing, float and fuselage skins). Lake operations were called off for the morning while the FAA/TSB investigators were on the scene.
