Who from the WONZ Forum is heading to Oshkosh this year for Airventure 2018? And what do you most look forward to seeing?
From a Kiwi perspective I know that Tony Wytenburg's team of Classic Aero Machining Service will be there with a newly restored and running Gnome rotary engine and other items that they produced for the warbird restoration market.
And also I know that Kermit Weeks intends to take four of his WWI aeroplanes to the show to help them mark 100 years since the end of World War One, and this will include a New Zealand built TVAL Sopwith Snipe which he intends to fly in the display, so that is a great coup for Kiwi engineering.
Are there any other New Zealand businesses or aeroplanes connected with this country intending to atend?

Dave, Don't know about other Kiwi enterprises but my bet as to the favourite would be the XP-51 above all. If you have not been following this restoration you need to Google it and just simply be amazed. Off to Duxford and cannot wait to see the CR.42 ! Cheers

Do you mean they are going to fly the prototype Mustang?

I’ve been here with family (they live in Fond du Lac) for the last week. Camper vans doubled in numbers between Thurs and Fri... Flightradar24 is showing (it’s Saturday 10:45) Vans RV squadron just arrived. Getting busy Pete

Sad that two warbirds that were en route to Airventure have been destroyed in the past 24 hours, the fatal Venom crash and the C-47.

Yeah that C47 was a strange one. Looked like a sudden crosswind got him from the left as the wing came up very suddenly. Fortunately no deaths or injuries just a very bent C47 sitting on her belly. Very sad about the Venom pilot. EDIT: Sounds like an engine failure got them off the runway into the air briefly then off completely. She then caught fire and is a complete loss. :-(

There are all sorts of theories flying around on the causes of the accidents, we'll have to wait and see what the investigations find.

I see watching the Warbird live stream you are able to see Harvard NZ1078 in the park area. Its not very clear but it is her, she is also covered with a cockpit cover to make things harder.
