The Programme:
15th September
1030 Hrs Delegates meeting of the NZ Malayan Veterans Assn at the Petone Working Men’s Club (PWMC) Udy street Petone. All veterans invited to attend but only delegates may vote. The meeting will finish at approx. 12 mid day
12 noon Lunch at PWMC (own cost)
1330 hrs Bus departs for the Nga Taonga (National film archives for vintage footage of our service in Malaya)
1530 Hrs Bus returns to PWMC
1800 Hrs Bus departs for the OR’s mess at Trentham Camp in Upper Hutt for happy hour
1930 Hrs This will be followed by a formal dinner with two guest speakers:
The Hon Ron Mark, Minister of Defence and Veterans Affairs
Brig (Rtd) Evan Torrance OBE formerly of 2 NZ Regt.
In attendance will be the Malaysian High Commissioner; H.E. Mee Choo
Dress code - suit/ jacket and ties, medals
Cost of dinner will be $40 which includes drinks
2130 Hrs Bus returns to PWMC
Sunday 16th September
1000 Hrs Bus departs PWMC for the National War Memorial in Buckle Street Wellington.
1100 Hrs Service of commemoration
1200 Hrs Service concludes
At the time of writing, it is not known what activity is planned after the service, but the bus will return to the PWMC when ever it is required to do so.
