I have tried to piece together the air display tour flown by (mostly) Squadron Leader Bob McKay in the RNZAF's first jet, the Gloster Meteor III, during 1946. This is based on snippets from all over the place, and some places it displayed and landed whilst other places it did flypasts overhead en route to other aerodromes. There are still a lot of gaps regarding dates and I'm sure places on my list. Can anyone fillin actual details that are missing? My list his here, click the link and scroll down the page a wee bit: www.cambridgeairforce.org.nz/Airshow_History_1940s.html#1946

When I was putting the Meteor Project together for Ashburton I spoke with Sir Tim Wallis who enthusiastically recounted seeing the III display at Invercargill. Obviously he'd only have been around 8 years old then. In due course a discussion with him might flesh out a bit of detail for you Dave.
