Is the RNZAF nightfighter Mossie ace F/Lt Roy Emile Le Long DFC* alive or dead?
He's not on the New Zealand death register, and there does not seem to be a date of death for him on other online sources like the Auckland War Memorial Museum's Cenotaph Database, etc.
He may well have died overseas, which would explain why he's not on the NZ death register. But can anyone confirm?
If he is still alive he'd be 100 years old, so it is possible he may be still around I guess.

I would love to chat with him if he's still around, as well as flying Mossies in WWII he flew North American Sabres in the Korean War, with the RAF attached to the USAF.

As discussed in an earlier thread here in 2013:
According to Ancestry.com his death was registered in South East Hampshire during the third quarter of 1977.

I went to school with Roy Emile LeLong’s daughter Gillian in the 1960s/ early 1970s. Roy married a wonderful Canadian woman called Audrey Mary, known as Mary, and had a son Noel and Gill. They settled in Warwickshire England. I am still in touch with Gill. She or Noel may have more information. Roy sadly died in the UK while we were still at school many decades ago. Please let me know if you want me to put you in touch with Gill or Noel.

Hi Ingrid, thanks for your message. Now that we know Roy is long since deceased, I guess there is not much to ask. But it would be interesting to know if Noel or Gill have any photos from his RNZAF service, or if they have his flying logbook.
