A very rare item! However I don't think any of the small number of Vildebeest IVs built ever served in the Middle East, nor Malaya, but only in UK (with 42 Squadron) and NZ, unless one was sent to these areas for tropical/hot weather trials. This is possible, as the Bristol Perseus engine installed was the very first sleeve valve engine ever to be installed and operated in a standard service (RAF) aircraft in the world. Incidentally, a more-or-less complete Vildebeest panel is held by the RNZAF Museum, although I believe this was built up from available items held by the Museum some years ago. Also the Vincent/Vildebeest held by the well-known Auckland family presumably also has some sort of instrument panel installed too. David D
