Well this is very cool. WONZ Forum member Santiago Hrubisko and his father Raúl Hrubisko, both from Argentina, are well known modellers who work together on their projects. They pick an aircraft type and prolifically build a multitude of them in all sorts of colour schemes. They have recently been binge building British Empire Curtiss P-40 Kittyhawks and Warhawks. Among them there are RAF, RAAF, RCAF and a good number of RNZAF P-40s represented.

Santiago consulted me some time back about the elusive white-nosed Ardmore P-40s which he saw on this thread. He and his father were intrigued by them, and wanted to include them in the P-40 build. I think they've done a wonderful job. Here, with his permission, are some photos Santiago sent me of the whole recently completed P-40 group, and the RNZAF P-40s by themselves, including the White Noses. Wonderful work chaps!

Yes all their builds are in 1/72.

Currently they are working on their next project, 22 Fairey Fulmars, which will be awesome. And they're doing research right now for Tiger Moths, including RNZAF examples.

I have a vague recollection about that one but I wont put my foot in my mouth yet. I would really love to see them do an exclusive on RAAF Mustangs and P-40s. Loved the two RAAF P-38s

I helped Santiago with information for the RAF Mustang collection, focussing on the early Allison engine Mk.I, Mk.IA and Mk.II, then pointed him towards the best sources for the later Merlin engine variants. The model back row, bottom left, is of the R-R mockup that was built, using components from a Mustang Mk.I, for a mid-engine Mustang variant powered by a R-R Griffon. Similar basic concept to the P-39, but the cockpit would have been mounted ahead of the wing. Went to the mockup build stage using parts of a Mustang Mk.I and a lot of wood, but then the project was dropped as focus shifted to other means of propulsion. The model above that in the back row is if my eyes don't deceive me, one of the Mustang X Merlin engine conversions by R-R.

Find these white nosed P40s intriguing, so the white nosed RNZAF P40s can't have been that common,
were there many of them? Were they home based used for training only, or were some of these also in
the combat zone as well?
