Bald tyres etc. South Island location, wheels only. The rest of these Austers rotted away years ago.

Could have come out of the 6 Hangar flight store but many years ago. I may have been wrong with the Auster thing, probably slightly more recent.

I had a call from the seller this morning. They are F-27 nose wheels and all 4 are available for $100.

I think the RNZAF only ever had three nose wheels, well the ones they owned. Any others were part of the combined rotables contract with Air New Zealand. The RNZAF essentially bought into the Air NZ rotable pool. Each RNZAF F-27 was bought very cheaply, about 5 digits from memory. You were lucky to get any wheels at all for that price. Then again at just $25 each they may have just come off those machines. For $50 each I can supply a letter of authenticity for you... A few of the others here will have better memories of the contract and pricing.

Is it me, or is the right hand wheel a tad larger than the other 3?

Camtech, Despite the distance of each wheel from camera, with left hand furthest away, there is a definite, disproportionate jump in size for the one on right, so yes, I do believe you are right. Both wheel and tyre look bigger. David D

I believe the wheels may have found a new home. If that is the case it is in the aviation environment again. They were previously being used on a car trailer.
