Wow, it seems the ship name HMS New Zealand was planned to return in WWII as a brand new large Malta Class aircraft carrier! That would have been so good, a carrier named New Zealand, with so many Kiwis flying in the Fleet Air Arm too. I wish it would have happened. If I ever decide to build a what if ship model it will have to be this one. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malta-class_aircraft_carrier

David Hobbs, book called “British Aircraft Carriers- Design, Development and Service Histories.” Has devoted a whole chapter on the Malta Class Carrier, Chapter 22 page 212. To some the cancellation of the Malta Class Carriers was an opportunity miss as they would’ve had more room to allow for further upgrades like it’s contemporary USN Midway Class. I have a 1/600 scale HMS Victorious which the hull and flight deck is roughly the size for a 1/700 scale Malta Class Carrier. Once i clear the lower decks and finish my man cave inside my shed (20m x 6m), I’ll start this wee beastie of Carrier and I’m not sure what I’ll call her yet? But it will be late 70’s early 80’s. The lads over at Ship bucket have done a couple of pictures of the Malta Class Carrier and the late 70’s early 80’s one won’t look out of place in today’s RN btw. www.shipbucket.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2669&hilit=HMS+Malta&start=20#p53890www.shipbucket.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2669&hilit=HMS+Malta&start=10#p50888
