A few pics from a day at Duxford last Wenesday June 5th for the D-Day Celebrations here in the UK. 23 Dakotas and variants of from the US, Hungary, France UK, Swededn, Norway attended ending with a mass take off and the first 10 carried paratroops all dressed up in authentic WW2 outfits. They all headed out to Normandy and the paras dropped over Sannerville, Normandy. The flying display was quite limited with the Spitfire duo performing a very tight routine, a P-47 displayed and a pair of Mustangs. Lots of flying with fare paying passengers in Dragion Rapides, Tiger Moths and Harvards while some of the Daks wnet out for an air to air photo shoot formating with a couple of the DH89s and Harvards.
Above and below, two views of the Li-2 from Hungary.
FIAT CR-42 almost ready to fly.
The Spitfire on left of this picture is ML407 flown by Johnnie Houlton during D-Day in 1944!! Now flying as a two seater.
As mentioned at top , these are just a small selection of the photos taken on the day. Hope you guys like them and enjoy them!
