As far as I can tell after nearly a decade in service the Amberley based Rhinos have only visited NZ once at that was the delivery flight by the first batch through Auckland International Airport. This seems to contrast with the same squadrons operating the F111 which visited both for airshows and exercises quite a lot.. Even after the A4s went. Maybe the need for mountain training went with the F111s Terrain following radar.. Still curious to me.

Not too much realistic "threat" training available to them in NZ I suspect is the reason. Better training value can be found elsewhere.
