hi guys, I have just been trawling the Boeing Commercial aircraft div Web page ( www.boeing.com/commercial) whilst looking for info on the Boeing 727-100 and how it differs from the -200 (I have just scored a 1/72 727-200 kit on eBay and want to convert it to an RNZAF -100C) but in the process I noted their "out of production" list includes all the McDonnell Douglas Jets from the DC-8 onwards. Reading through all the text I found no reference to the name "McDonnell Douglas" at all, the nearest being "What is now the Boeing Douglas Products Group at Long Beach" . Even the thumbnails showing pictures of the aircraft in generic manufacturers colour schemes appear to show Boeing colours on the DC-8! I'm surprised no reference is made to the impressive history and production run of the Boeing DC-3! Hows that for political mud in the eye to the Long Beach workers!

Bruce, welcome to the gentle world of capitalism and high finance. ;D It's sad to see how quickly the name McDonnell Douglas has disappeared, and as you said, it's as if they never existed. I think Boeing wants everyone to forget as quickly as possible because Boeing was quite unpopular when it sealed the deal and swallowed up McDD. Funny thing is, there was a time when Boeing was probably shaking in it's shoes that McDD might just swallow up Boeing!
