Hi guys. I have a 1944 document from National Archives signed by "Trunk", who was a senior member of the RNZAF, probably at Air Force HQ in Wellington. He was writing to Air Commodore Buckley, 1 Islands Group, and it's clear they were on first name terms. Just wondering: Does anybody know who "Trunk" might have been? Thanks in advance. JM

Hmm, that one is not familiar to me. Is there any chance of seeing a scan/photo of the signature please?

All I can think of is, not "Trunk", but "Tanc" (Wing Commander H L (Harry) Tancred, AFC), but I do not think he will be the one you are after! David D

Hi guys - thanks for the offers of help - I just found the answer, in another letter, from Air Commodore Sid Wallingford in August 1944 addressed to "Trunk" (except it could be "Trink") and the person it's addressed to is Air Commodore A. de T. Nevill, Vice Chief of Air Staff.

Now that you mention it, I do believe (in the distant past) I have heard of that nickname For Nevill somewhere. David D
