Thanks Mike and John for keeping us updated on this wonderful ole girl.
Seeing what you guys and team are doing left me in no doubt she is in the best of hands last month. The conservation and preservation work you guys are doing is something rarely seen! Reminds me of when I read my book on Restoring Museum Aircraft by Robert Mikesh and the NASM team and their aim to preserve, and record for future generations.
Well done chaps, a pleasure to watch. Just wish I was there to help...much more interesting than my Auster T.7 rebuild!
Have a safe festive period and look forward to your updates in the new year
Cheers Anthony

I can only agree with what Anthony says (Auster restorers have to stick together?). I for one couldn't tell where the touch ups were done as everything looks like it had never been touched! Well done Team Curtiss!

The Mosquito is back on its wheels with wings all attached, and it looks like an aeroplane again. Only much more outstanding than it did a couple of months ago! Congratulations to Al, Gavin, Bill, Marty, Deane and all the team! Tremendous!

The Bristol Hercs were ex B170 Freighter ( -734 series I think) and are now with the Bristol Group at Omaka.

Brilliant. Looks better than I could have imagined. What a great legacy for New Zealand, Omaka and the Smith family. Congratulations to all those involved.

Not that I'm suggesting it for this airframe, but did any NZers fly RAF/USAAF Mustangs operationally in WW2? In a word "yes". A number of RNZAF pilots flew Mustangs with the RAF in Europe, starting with a number who were serving with what were initially Army Co-operation Command Squadrons in 1942 that were re-equipped with the Allison engined Mustang Mk.I. A handful of them over two operational tours between 1942 and early 1945, flew all three of the Allison engined Mustangs that were used by the RAF in the ETO, Mk.I, Mk.IA and Mk.II. Podcast with Matt Willis, going over the Mustang's early development, and use of the Allison versions for Army Co-op.

It's going to be a while till I can venture down your way again, Can't even leave the house at the moment except for shopping Great to see such amazing progress on Gloria and the Mossie too.

The Freighter has run (and taxied) for several years already. My mistake, I had read that the Hercules fitted were "Making Metal" but as you say it appears that they have sorted this. Would love to see it running. Maybe one day....... Pat

Al Marshall replaced the damaged engine with his own one some years back pat, so it has had two good engines again for some time, I think four years at least.

Would love to see it running. Maybe one day....... Pat Come to Classic Fighters at Easter and you can see it run and taxi. Yes the starboard engine had an issue a few of years ago and while investigating Al noticed the master rod was cracked. So he replaced the engine with his trailer mounted one. I think the plan is to get another engine running either for the trailer or for the Freighter when he gets a minute!
