Not so busy at the moment with Lockdown Well if we finally get to go overseas Pat I'll have to look you up. Always wanted to visit Wales.....Guesthouse might come in handy! . Closest I got was Stoke on Trent in late 2000.

That was just fantastic, thank you John! I'm speechless but I'd like to think the way I was smiling throughout that video speaks volumes.

What magnificent progress on this historic machine. Well done to all involved and the ability to locate replacement parts wherever possible. Overall the condition of the airframe shows the dedication of John Smith to protect it over the long time it was in his care. Bravo Zulu

What a great update clip, just love how original she is, always wondered if the RNZAF P40s had the darker green Camo patches on the leading and trailing edges of the wings as you don't see pictures that make this clear, obvious proof that they did have this Camo! Thanks so much for posting this update, she isn't far off being ready for display I'd suggest.
A trip across the ditch to see an original RNZAF P40 and Mosquito is planned, wonder how far off the trans Tasman bubble that has been talked about actually is?

The green camo patches are Curtiss factory applications, rather than RNZAF.

Unbelievable, the project just keeps giving, at first I thought it was amazing that the thing ran so nice then I stopped and thought about it. The people who are working on it's abilities and the fact that the engine is only 84 hours young!
Begs the question will she pushed out of the museum and ground run on special occasions or on more special occasions, when the second engine is sorted, taxied?
This is and will be such a wonderful tribute to John Smith and such a great thing for young people to see and learn about in the future. I hope the powers that be recognise Mr Smith for what he has done for the people of New Zealand!
I realise he will be recognised at the museum and by fellow aviation people but perhaps in a wider sense, would be great if this was addressed!
Thank you Mr Smith and those working on this project, awesome!

First Mossie Merlin running! What an amazing, incredible surprise! I had the biggest smile on my face watching this yesterday! And then to learn the second will be run too? Fantastic. Stupendous! Brilliant. Bravo to everyone involved, and thank you for sharing!

That was great, really showed how there was so many other parts, what a treasure trove.
Of note in a couple of the Wartime colourised shots of the Gloria Lyons P40, the underside white bars are not as broad as seen more often. I guess in the field there were variations also may not have been reproduced accurately in the colourising process I guess?
