Interesting. I wonder if the sale fell through? Seems like too much of a specialist item to be using for a scam.

I should add it sold for AU$1800, now listed at NZ$5000

It’s worth noting that shipping, taxes at the border, and currency conversion costs will make up a substantial part of that difference. Importing an item like that canopy is not cheap.

Why buy to sell straight away? Seems like a lot of effort.

Hi there, the Canopy is mine and it is the one sold recently on eBay. Jaybee is correct that the sell price, shipping, MPI charges, Customs duty and then GST on top of everything does not make it a cheap item. The project I am slowly building is based around a -1A panel, deck, BP glass, Windscreen, reflector, gunsight etc which I aim to be a working display (gunsight wise). If the canopy did not have the swastikas I would have converted it to a -1A canopy, but discovering the markings I feel it should be preserved. In fact I'm in the process of researching who it it may have been attributed to and have a few good leads. I'm not expecting it to sell and it is unlikely I'd try and sell it again, probably end up in one of NZ Aviation museums in due course. WRT the quick listing, just thought I'd see if anyone liked it more than me and if so I had more resource to put into my primary project. Anyway I hope that clears up any speculation. All the best, this is a great forum.
