James Kightly of Australia joins Dave via Zoom to discuss the plans for the upcoming Wings Over Britain tour that Dave is undertaking later this year in late June and through July 2023. They discuss some of the places that Dave hopes to visit and the stories that will be recorded for the upcoming WONZ Show sub-series “Wings Over Britain”.
They also look back and reminisce about the similar sub-series that Dave and James recorded in November 2015, “Wings Over Australia”, and highlight some of the episodes recorded in that series that people can still access and listen to.
James also announces his new role with Vintage Aviation News, and how they will be supporting Wings Over Britain with promotional updates as the tour progresses and the episodes roll out. Thanks for the support Vintage Aviation News!

The Give-a-Little fundraiser closes on the 10th of May 2023, in case anyone wants to add a last minute contribution. Thanks so much to the great folks out there who have donated!

Time for a bit of an update.
Firstly, thanks so much to those who made donations to the now-closed Givealittle fundraiser, I really appreciate that, as every little bit definitely helps.
The planning for the Wings Over Britain Tour continues, but I have already lined up some terrific people and places to visit and record episodes with.
They include: - S/L Mark Sugden who is the Officer Commanding the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight - Dan Ellin at the International Bomber Command Centre - Katie Campbell, Rob Jones and Frank Hopps of Fly Navy - Samantha Hart, Allan Winn and Andrew Lewis at the Brooklands Museum - Katie Edwards at the Biggin Hill Memorial Museum - Sarah Carr of OFMC, daughter of Ray Hanna, sister of Mark Hanna - Dave Gledhill, a former fighter pilot, author and BBMF volunteer who runs a Tornado simulator - Ian Thirsk at the de Havilland Museum - Ross Boyens, NZ-born Falklands War Harrier veteran and Red Arrows pilot - Andrew Panton at East Kirby (maybe)
There area load of others who I plan to see and interview too, they are just not quite locked into the schedule at this stage yet. But it is all coming together well. I think maybe I am not going to get to do everything that I want to do, but the trip will be jam packed with great museum and collection visits and interviews.

Im off to Midlands Air Festival on Sunday. Show on 2/3/4 June....pity it did not coincide Dave. Nice meal in a Brit pub washed down with a few real ales would have been nice.

Hi Ando, yes it is a shame, but unfortunately I cannot fit in everything. I am already dropping a few things off my list that are just too much to fit in, restricted by time and budget, and the energy levels I will have while there. Maybe I will have to go back in a few years' time and try to get to Midlands Air Festival then.

Just one more sleep till I depart for Auckland Airport tomorrow and board an Air New Zealand flight to London, and the beginning of the long-anticipated Wings Over Britain Tour. I have so many great places and people lined up to see, I cannot wait! The excitement is fever pitched now!

Well, it's all go. This afternoon Kieran Lear and I visited Ross Boyens, a Kiwi who flew RAF Harriers in combat in the Falklands War, and was in the Red Arrows. I interviewed him, and that kicks of the Wings Over Britain series recordings! I will try to get it edited and released soon.

Four episodes of the Wings Over Britain series have now been recorded. As well as the episode with Ross Boyens, as previously mentioned, there are shows featuring The Fleet Air Arm Museum, part of the National Museum of the Royal Navy; plus Navy Wings, and now Brooklands Museum have all been added to the list of places where recordings have been made. Watch this space for release of edited shows soon.
